19 of the Russian's twenty-one victories have been achieved on hard surfaces

A resurgent Medvedev claimed his first championship for over two years with victory over Corentin Moutet in the tournament title decider.

Medvedev, a former top-ranked player, has experienced a challenging season, winning just one win at the major tournaments and experiencing a difficult moment at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's varied form on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his service game in specific - resulted in him dropping out of the world's top 10 and eventually parting ways with former coach Cervara.

Now working with Johansson and Goetzke, the tennis star has consistently improved in the past month - peaking in a tightly fought competitive triumph over opponent Corentin Moutet.

It is the player's initial trophy after the Rome competition and first on a hard surface after March of that year.

The win also indicates the Russian has achieved twenty-one titles at twenty-one different tournaments.

"For the first time I have attended a event with my children at once, so to secure a title is especially meaningful," commented ranked player the champion.

"This championship is in tribute of my child Victoria, because the initial championship I won when my child Alisa was born was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had been defeated in his previous six finals, including in that event previously this season.

The player's defensive play style and recurring emotional displays on the tennis court had caused observers to wonder if his capacity to play at the elite level was over.

But the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, striving to approach the net and play positively, supported by an better serve.

He recovered from a disadvantage in the initial set against the challenging Frenchman, securing four of the final five exchanges to go ahead.

The competitors traded breaks in the second set before Moutet, bidding for his first professional victory, seized the initiative to force a decider.

He saved 4 early-game chances in a close final set before Medvedev secured a break to 15 to serve for the match.

Fittingly, he earned the win with a rally at the front of the court, with the Frenchman incapable to control a volley after a lengthy match.
